Juice Smart

While a juice cleanse offers many benefits, it also can be challenging, possibly more so depending on your diet.  We have several recommendations to help your experience be the best possible.  With a bósásta cleanse, you will be consuming only organic fruits and vegetables during the period of the cleanse. You may feel withdrawal-like symptoms if you are accustomed to eating foods containing substances like processed salt, MSG and other excitotoxins which cause these withdrawals. When your body stops receiving them daily, it is sure to let you know. Your body is basically telling you, “Where is my processed sugar and caffeine that I am so used to!!?” Withdrawal symptoms can include headache and slight nausea. These generally tend to go away by the end of the day.

Prior to your cleanse period :

We recommend you to speak to your doctor before starting any cleanse if you are pregnant, have diabetes or any other health issues. Sometimes nutrients in fresh vegetables, for example, such as the Vitamin K in leafy greens can interact with medicines like blood thinners to negate their effects. As with any type of drastic change in diet, you should always talk to your doctor if you are under managed care and or medication.

During your cleanse our recommendations are as follows:

  • If you have a physically challenging period ahead do not attempt to do a juice cleanse. Pick a period of time where your load is lighter and your social calendar is clear for a few days. The last thing you want is to attend an event with your coworkers where pizza, ice cream and fried foods are abundant. This will ruin your mojo!
  • Make sure to get plenty of sleep during the cleanse period. You should be doing this anyway, but especially now.
  • If you work out rigorously, it is a good idea the switch to a less demanding routine during the cleanse period.  Yoga, pilates, or Tai Chi done at a mild or moderate level would be a good exercise compliment to your cleanse.
  • Drink filtered water throughout the day preferably adding a wedge of the organic lemons we provided you with in your cleanse kit.
  • Shake your juice prior to drinking for best flavor! All of our juices are made fresh the morning of your delivery and, yes, will separate. Why do they separate? Each element in the drink has its own specific weight once juiced and will settle into layers. This does not mean it’s bad, it just needs to be shaken up. For aesthetic reasons beverage manufactures use various means to keep drinks from separating through the use of compounds like Carrageenan, Gellan Gum, BVO and others. In many cases these added chemicals are not good for you. Studies have shown these substances can cause bloating, intestinal issues and various cancers. In our opinion it’s not worth it so do yourself a favor and just get those biceps moving and give it a quick shake!
  • Our final recommendation is to find a cleanse buddy. It  is easier to embark on something new with a friend. You can compare notes and talk daily about what you are both going through. If you can convince one of your friends to be your wingman, they will encourage you and keep you motivated during the cleanse as we are sure you will do for them. Feel free to log your thoughts daily on our Facebook page as well. Others will want to know about your cleanse experience  to see what they can expect. Sharing is caring!
